Andersen's Gazes is the second of the Andersen series by Lee Kyung-Ok Dance Company. This collaboration between Lee Kyung-ok Dance Company, and pop-artists Mary Kim and Choi Jong-beom, tells the story of Hans Christian Andersen's life, cobbled together through his tales. To avoid his dark and troubled life, Andersen writes only light stories, consequently living with conflicting thoughts and emotions. This dilemma is reflected into his works, like a self-portrait.

Hans Christian Andersen, famed Danish writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, is best remembered for his fairy-tales, which has become a strong part of Western European culture. His stories, which include The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, and The Emperor's New Clothes, express themes that transcend age and nationality. His stories have inspired plays, ballets, and both live-action and animated films, and now the Korean company of Lee Kyung-ok will explore these tales through contemporary dance - exploring man's multiplicity through Andersen’s stories, and through his unique gaze.
